What You'll Be Doing
The Senior Accountant position is to provide budget development and management for an assigned Human Services division.
Provide fiscal analysis, expenditure reporting and forecasting to ensure revenue optimization.
Coordinate regular budget meetings with Program Managers and Division Directors to assess budgetary needs, monitor revenues, and ensure fiscal compliance to Federal/State regulations necessary to maximize reimbursements.
Coordinates and facilitates periodic budget meetings with direct Supervisors, Program Managers and Division Directors/ Deputy Directors to assess budgetary needs for the upcoming fiscal year and establish a multi-year cost based budget for assigned program areas.
Analyzes year to date spending, perform budget adjustments, maximizes revenues, identifies trends, and performs revenue projections and expenditure forecasting.
Drafts Board of Commissioner's agenda items for additional allocations received after the budget has been approved and adopted.

The Wake County Human Service's Budget Unit is responsible for:
Coordinating, directing, and supervising the budgetary operations for the department
Guiding, developing, and maintaining the budget; assuring sound fiscal conditions by monitoring departmental expenditures and revenues
Providing financial oversight, reporting, and cost study analyses
Developing and implementing policies and administrative/fiscal procedures that support departmental priorities, goals, service delivery, productivity, and costs procedures
Ensuring budget and financial operations are compliant with the County, State, and Federal guidelines
Actively participates in audit and cost settlement activities
The Basics (Required Education and Experience)
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or related field
Three years of experience in accounting
Equivalent education and experience combination accepted
Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience)
Three (3) years of Budget Development and Fiscal Management experience
Experience working with a Human Services Agency that is subject to State and Federal program policy
Experience working with Managed Care Organizations
