Shovels Fleet Specialist At Suncor Energy Services

We are looking for you! Our world-class reliability team is looking to add a senior shovels specialist to the Suncor family. Your input will be used to support the sustainment and improvement of maintenance and reliability processes, practices and physical up time of mobile equipment. This experience will enhance our current reliability team members’ knowledge base by mentoring and the sharing of experiences in mining equipment. In this role, you will act as the technical interface between the mine sites and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM)/vendor to drive technical issues and continuous product improvement initiatives and perform reliability engineering activities to support maintenance and operations as an in-house expert.

You will use your expertise to:

  • Act as the main point of contact with OEM’s on technical issues
  • Perform reliability engineering activities to support maintenance and operations as an in-house expert
  • Provide technical guidance to the business regarding long-term maintenance activities and strategies
  • Drive reliability improvements through technology by enhancing condition-based monitoring programs
  • Drive asset strategy development for new and existing mobile mining equipment assets
  • Participate in and facilitate failure analysis, root cause analysis and incident investigation exercises

We’d like to review your application if you have…

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • 15 years of field experience in maintenance and/or reliability working with large equipment
  • 10 years working in a mining environment with electric and hydraulic shovels
  • Mobile equipment asset management experience
  • Electrical, mechanical and hydraulic technical knowledge of P&H and Komatsu equipment; expert in Komatsu and Hitachi shovels (4100BOSS AC and EX8000)
  • A High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • The ability to anticipate potential problems and check for out-of-the-ordinary conditions, and a strong sense of accountability
  • Excellent collaboration skills that enable you to build strong, positive relationships with diverse groups
  • Alignment with our values

Preference for:

  • Shovel experience with Komatsu 4100 AC electric shovel and Hitachi EX8000 hydraulic shovel
  • An electrical or mechanical engineering educational background, or journeyperson with 15 years of experience in shovels

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other important information:

  • You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs
  • Domestic and international travel to Suncor operating sites and OEM’s factories may be required on an infrequent basis
