Senior Associate or Advisor, Financing & International Relations At EXPORT DEVELOPMENT CANADA

Team & Job Overview


The Financing Center of Expertise (COE) and International Relations (IR) Team has a mandate to:

  • Contribute market intelligence and innovation to, and support the execution of, EDC’s F&IGC Program’s objectives and priorities
  • Identify and facilitate opportunities to influence policies and practices of OECD Export Credit Agencies (ECA) through engagement at the OECD and IWG and manage Canada’s responsibilities and commitments under the OECD Export Credit Group. Also, support the operationalization of new international commitments
  • Provide governance, clarification and/or interpretation of policies and guidelines in support of the transaction origination process
  • Gather, maintain and disseminate ECA competitive intelligence
  • Lead EDC’s engagement with the Berne Union, in collaboration with other internal stakeholders
  • Contribute to the growth and sustainability of a CI culture within F&IGC

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development and execution of the International Relations strategic plan
  • Support EDC negotiations with respect to the new International Working Group on Export Credits (IWG) – new engagement strategy developing nations on export credits
  • Conduct competitive research on activities, policies and strategies of other ECA’s to support EDC’s strategic discussions, legislative review, corporate planning process and intelligence initiatives
  • Communicate developments on files to internal stakeholders and contribute to policy level advice to the Executive Team and other areas of the Corporation
  • Provide support/advice to the lines of business on the interpretation and application of guidelines and policies
  • Support/prepare the agenda, content, briefings, logistics, minutes and reporting related to executive level engagements, inquiries of EDC, G7 and G11 heads of ECA meetings, incoming ECA visits etc.
  • Participate in internal and external coordination meetings to develop EDC/Canada’s positions, negotiating strategies, and policy implementation plan, etc.
  • Support/ respond to and fulfill international reporting requirements (OECD, Berne Union, WTO, etc.)
  • Researches, analyzes, disseminates, and maintains current information on ECAs, including coordinating responses to queries from other ECAs, coordinating EDC queries to other ECAs
  • Maintains integrity of information on the team shared work spaces

Screening Criteria

  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Economics, Public Policy, related field or relevant experience
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in public policy, international affairs, and/or stakeholder relations (Senior Associate)

  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in public policy, international affairs, and/or stakeholder relations, with a minimum of 2 years of financing transactional, advisory or business development experience (Advisor)

  • Excellent MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint capabilities and strong ability to work with complex databases

Assets

  • Bilingual in both official languages (French and English)
  • Good understanding of EDC’s mandate and products, particularly financing products
  • Experience in the financial sector
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Salary Range

  • Senior Associate: $52,000 - $79,000, plus performance-based incentive
  • Advisor: $62,000 - $92,000, plus performance-based incentive
