Expedia Group Media Solutions is dedicated to building creative media partnerships for travel advertisers enabling them to use Expedia's network of leading travel brands and global sites. We have revolutionized the way brands reach and connect with online travel consumers, emerging as a leader in online advertising sales among travel and e-commerce brands. With a growing product portfolio offering a multitude of advertising and sponsorship opportunities, our Media Solutions team at Expedia has built a viable marketing platform for advertising partners to reach the 144 million worldwide monthly unique visitors that visit Expedia Group sites.

About the Role:

Are you excited and energized to grow an industry-leading travel advertising product? Are you passionate about the intersection of e-commerce and advertising? Does leading a regional, rapidly-expanding and dynamic sales organization energize you?

Reporting to the Senior Director of Global Business Development, the successful Director will be responsible for leading sales efforts in North America by driving accelerated sales growth for TravelAds, (Expedia Group Media Solutions sponsored listing product) across Expedia Groups portfolio of brands (including Expedia, Hotels.com, Orbitz, and Travelocity) directly to partners and advertising agencies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Grow revenue – deliver against quarterly and annual revenue goals for TravelAds
  • Lead, motivate and coach a team of media sales managers
  • Forecast and set goals for the North America sales team
  • Act as the Media Solutions authority, for both internal and external key partners on TravelAds products
  • Develop sales strategies for emerging and mature markets – growing the ad sales footprint within the region through new client acquisition and growth of base accounts
  • Execute on go-to-market strategies and plans
  • Mentor and develop sales teams which includes recruiting, hiring and training of front line sellers and sales managers
  • Support the TravelAds sales team by participating and leading in client, agency and prospect meetings. Engaging other corporate resources as required.
  • Understand CPC auction mechanisms to develop strategies to increase revenue and sustain or improve return on ad spend metrics.
  • This role must be based in any one of our offices in either West (San Francisco, Los Angeles or Bellevue) or East Coast (New York, Washington DC or Miami)

Competencies, Knowledge, and Behavior:

  • Proven experience in leading geographically dispersed, dynamic sales teams.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in operating, monitoring and optimizing the sales engagement, pipeline and sales productivity process.
  • Building solid relationships at multiple levels with clients and agencies.
  • Work with internal teams to ensure organizational understanding of sales strategy and market demands and how that translates into product offering and sales support requirements.
  • Analyze performance of the regional business, major accounts and report results.
  • Ability to deep dive into performance metrics and details of business composition. Success in using metrics to uncover new opportunities and/or gaps to grow/scale the business.
  • Cross collaboration with peers to demonstrate best practices and help the global team win.
  • Strong balance of people skills and analytical approach to running business for optimal performance.
  • Strong propensity to take initiative and flourish with change.
  • Ability to travel in-market and navigate multiple time zones effectively.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field; master’s degree preferred
  • Seven plus years of demonstrated success as an individual contributor and sales manager in media and/or digital travel sales.
  • Internal Applicants – must be level M or above (and in good standing) to be considered
