This position requires a qualified candidate to provide teaching/tutoring support in an 1:1 residential, home or school setting that is geared to support learning and address learning gaps in curriculum. A successful candidate must have their B.Ed with special education background. Teaching in this capacity requires supporting adolescents who have sustained a traumatic/acquired brain injury reintegrate and return to school. This position also requires collaboration with school administration and the students’ rehabilitation to identify specialized supports needed in school (i.e. school accommodations, program modifications, and differentiated assessments (as/for/of learning).
The following candidate must meet the following requirements:
- Bachelors of Education- OCT Registered
Certification in Special Ed
2-3 years working with adolescents with special needs ( Grade 7-12)
- Able to work weeknights typically after school between 4pm - 8pm and occasional Saturday's .
-Part-time position - hours vary based on number of clients
1:1 setting providing direct instructions ( using instructional aids for assessments)
Must have valid criminal check and vulnerable sector screening
Comfortable communicating with multi-disciplinary team ( SLP, Social Worker, OT), and school administration regarding process.
Familiarity with Ontario Curriculum Expectations
