Grower & Channel Services Specialist (12 month contract)


Your tasks and responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of this role, Grower & Channel Services Specialist, based in Calgary, AB, are to:


  • Ensure availability and implementation of differentiated agricultural services aligned with the customer value proposition and local go-to-market strategy
  • Drive higher customer share through the design and commercialization of differentiated services, both independent and as part of integrated solutions

Key Tasks:

  • Identify, within the local grower and channel landscape, demand for technical and non-technical agricultural services complementary to Crop Science’s current/future products
  • Design services portfolio and associated services commercialization strategy (e.g., through integrated offers, customer loyalty schemes, etc.) that will engender customer loyalty and differentiate Crop Science from the competition
  • Define value proposition for services provided both independently and as part of integrated solutions; customize value propositions by customer segment, and educate Marketing and Sales colleagues how to communicate/push these services/solutions effectively
  • Establish and manage partnerships with services suppliers:
    • Monitor effectiveness of services implementation
    • Promote mindset shift internally/externally from using discounts/rebates to using services as a driver of customer loyalty
    • Provide input for regional portfolio strategies to ensure availability of services that require scale and are managed on regional level
  • Support development of new solutions, services, communications and experiences based on customer insights and work closely with key stakeholders to ensure marketing services and insights generation are of the highest caliber and support both short and long term strategies
  • Support development of foundational grower program s, incentives and offers that support customer focus and achievement of business priorities within available resource allocations. Align with key stakeholders to ensure all steps of program process (enrollment, reconciliation and payment execution) are fully compliant with required Internal Control Systems and any associated legal requirements (ex. PIPEDA, CASL etc)
  • Support Sales/Key Accounts and Grower and Channel Marketing in the development and analysis of specific, behavior focused channel programs/offers
  • Guide the development and activation of segmentation, insights and analytics with Sales team and Key Accounts colleagues while coordinating with sales management teams
  • Guide the interpretation and analysis of large and diverse data sets to identify customer trends, needs, behaviours and opportunities
  • Collaborate with Sales Excellence and Rebate Fulfilment Teams to ensure clear communication and understanding of offers and programs including: terms, conditions and reconciliation requirements, exists for inbound customer queries


Who are you
Your success will be driven by your demonstrations of our LIFE values. More specifically related to this position, Bayer seeks an incumbent who possess the following:


  • B.A./B.S. Agriculture, Business, Marketing, or related discipline
  • 3+ years business experience preferred in field sales / in Ag seeds, chemical or related industry
  • Thorough understanding of marketing, market research, data management and analysis, business planning and implementation processes and practices
  • Analytical skills, ability to translate analytical findings into practical implementation plans
