The Accounting and Finance Paid Internship is available twice per year (beginning in either January or July) at the BayCare System Office in Clearwater. The internships vary based on new or on-going projects that support the BayCare vision.
Previous interns have worked in various areas of Corporate Accounting & Finance including: Accounts Payable, Fixed Assets, Payroll, Reconciliations and Reporting. The January internship opportunity focuses on the Cost Report, which is a financial report that identifies the cost and charges related to BayCare's healthcare activities. Why is the Cost Report important? It directly impacts reimbursement to BayCare! Being involved in the preparation of the Cost Reports exposes interns to various BayCare systems, data analysis, data mining, and more. Based on business needs, career goals, and overall performance the internship may evolve into a full-time permanent offer!
The Finance Technician III maintains control of assigned general ledger accounts and hospital statistics. Prepares statistical reports and analyzes general ledger activity, Reconciles the hospital's bank accounts, Prepares audit paperwork and schedules, Assists in preparing the annual operating budgets, Manages the hospital's petty cash account, Responsible for sales tax returns. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Experience includes 5 years in a related field or an Associate's Degree in lieu of experience.
- Pursuing degree in Accounting OR Finance
- Understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel
