Staff Accountant At Bay State Physical Therapy

Location: Randolph, Massachusetts

Job Description

The Staff Accountant's responsibilities include maintaining financial records and reports, performing account and bank reconciliations, posting cash receipts, and assisting with the budget and close processes, accounts payable and payroll. This role also assists the Controller as needed and responds to information requests by management and for auditing purposes. The Staff Accountant is expected to apply accounting principles to prepare financial reports, compile financial statements, analyze financial data, and ensure financial compliance.

Essential Functions
  • Maintains financial reports, records, and general ledger accounts
  • Prepares journal entries, analyses, and account reconciliations and assists with monthly close processes
  • Reconciles bank statements, including tracking weekly deposits and any variances
  • Performs daily cash accounting for credit card payments, direct deposit, daily cash, and unidentified funds and posts these payments to the proper general ledger account
  • Contributes to the development and review of annual operating budgets and performance projections
  • Performs monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Meets processing and reporting deadlines
  • Responds to information requests and assists with audits
  • Acts as a backup to the Accounts Payable Specialist and Payroll Manager
  • Completion of special projects as assigned
  • Assists the Controller as needed and performs other duties as assigned
  • Continually updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; internal company and team trainings; maintains personal networks; participates in professional development opportunities
  • Maintains regular and punctual attendance
  • Complies with all company policies and procedures
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required
  • 2+ years of accounting experience
  • Proficient in a General Ledger package
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Working knowledge of GAAP
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Good problem-solving and time management skills
  • Highly organized and detail oriented
  • Able to read and understand technical forms and financial reports

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience QuickBooks a plus but not required
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) a plus but not required
