Summary

The core responsibility of the Senior Market Manager, Nutrition is for the market uptake and growth of Baxter’s Parenteral Nutrition products thought the development and implementation of therapeutically focused marketing programs. The Senior Market Manager leads cross functional relationships and addresses requirements to coordinate marketing processes with various teams and stakeholders (Finance, Regulatory, Quality, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Medical Affairs and Sales). This individual acts as the marketing point person for the various Nutrition Products portfolio. He/she also supports the development and execution of Therapeutic and Strategic marketing plans. He/she is viewed as product subject-matter-expert of the products within his/her portfolio.

Major Responsibilities / Activities

Business Planning and Growth Support

Strategic Planning i.e. Portfolio growth plans, P5 process, LRP

  • Supports the development of annual P5 brand plans and long-range plans; Coordinates planning processes with functions (e.g. Finance, Medical Affairs, GAAP, RA/QA, Sales, etc)
  • Works closely with the Business Unit Manager in developing plans and financial forecasts
  • Supports the achievement of the Sales and GP financial objectives of the Nutrition product portfolio while managing the investments

Marketing program development

  • Supports the execution of P5 plans by leading the process for development and approval of marketing materials for the Nutrition product portfolio. Works with various stakeholders across Baxter (e.g. Regulatory, Legal) and external suppliers. Tracks the process and ensures costs are within budget.
  • Launches and implements marketing programs based on P5 plans and planning process
  • Works collaboratively with Global Marketing partners to ensure alignment and synergies

Market Research and Competitive Intelligence

  • Gathers and analyzes market information & develops competitive sales training strategies & programs required
  • Is recognized as product subject matter expert on Nutritionrespective Nutrition business
  • Understands customer and market dynamics and trends in order to address customers’ unmet needs

Marketing Operations

Process coordination i.e. Forecasting, inventory management, RA/QA

  • Independently leads marketing processes pertaining to day-to-day activities and issue management for the Nutrition Portfolio
  • Leads and acts as liaison between Sales and Supply Chain teams to achieve forecast accuracy and service level goals for customers; Plans and coordinates the forecasting process (short & long term) on behalf of the Nutrition product portfolio. Identifies gaps and reports on activities to prevent and address supply issues.
  • Works closely with the Business Unit Manager in the process of launching new product and/or service initiatives. Responsible for the commercialization checklist, which includes merchandising activities, business reports and securing inventory with Supply chain.

Pricing and Contracts

  • Ensures pricing guidelines are developed & reviewed annually
  • Manage the Nutrition portfolio contracting and pricing strategies in collaboration with the Health Systems and manufacturing business partners.
  • Actively supports RFP responses for their Product portfolio

Complaints, FCAs, Product Inquiries and Misc.

  • Leads field corrective action planning and marketing communication associated with Nutrition product portfolios working collaboratively with other cross functional & sales teams as required
  • Interacts and ensures effective communications with the sales team and various functions; ensures timely response to customer inquiries regarding products
  • Seeks and implements process improvements as it relates to their product portfolio

Special Projects

Nutrition Projects

  • Provides leadership and makes recommendations on assigned Nutrition business projects working collaboratively with cross functional partners

Job Requirements

Education/Experience

Education Level

Required:

  • Undergraduate degree (business, marketing, economics/commerce)

Preferred:

  • Masters degree with specific related experience

Major Subjects / Specialties

Required:

  • Business (Marketing)

Preferred:

  • Nutrition (dietician)

Type of Experience

Required:

  • Pharmaceutical or Medical Device Marketing

Preferred:

  • Pharmaceutical or Medical Device Sales and Marketing
  • Therapeutic marketing experience (ideally in GI, ICU or Oncology Setting)

Years of Experience

Required:

  • 5-7 years business experience

Preferred:

  • 7-10 years business experience

Additional Skills / Special Training / Technical Skills Required

Required:

  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Powerpoint, Excel) & IT systems (ie JDE)
  • Communication skills – excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Critical thinking
  • Project management – organizational skills
  • Excellent team work and influencing skills (without direct authority).
  • Being able to lead cross functional teams and work effectively on cross-functional teams
  • Problem solving skills with focus on customer satisfaction and the patient experience
  • Understanding of marketing processes

Preferred:

  • Nutrition, ICU, Oncology Sales and/or Marketing experience
  • Leading cross-functional teams.
  • Marketing training and demonstrated use
  • Miller Heimen training and demonstrated use
  • Experience with issue management
  • French/English speaking
