Senior Communications Specialist - (1901364)


Where the Chemistry Happens


The Senior Communications Specialist will contribute to and strengthen the development, implementation, quality and strategy behind communication activities that build awareness, understanding and support for BASF’s Agricultural Solutions Canadian business.


Core Responsibilities:


  • Support the day-to-day management of a complex national communications
portfolio, including: media and public relations, content/message development,
sponsorship, digital assets, social media and brand management.
  • Work with multiple consultants and agencies supporting the above-mentioned
portfolio, making timely, strategic decisions related to the Agricultural Solutions
communications portfolio with guidance from Management.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive, multi-faceted media strategy, including
management and execution of an editorial calendar, leadership profiling
program, narrative database and journalist engagement. Responsible for briefing
and preparation of BASF spokespeople. Responsible for composing and editing
press releases, company literature, and articles for internal and external use
  • Support and identify priority corporate communications objectives for BASF’s
Agricultural Solutions business, coordinating regional and global mandates with
local needs, to ensure our social license to operate remains intact and improves
over time.
  • Guide and deliver BASF’s sponsorship and charitable giving program, ensuring
investments support our business objectives and align with the company’s overall
corporate giving strategy and policy. Attend conferences, fairs and shows that
represent BASF’s main views and selling points. Coordinate media attendance
and content strategy of such events, ensuring BASF’s view are represented.
  • Provide counsel to senior leadership, supporting reputation, issues and crisis
management activities in partnership with the Manager, Communications and
Public Affairs. Detect public relations issues as they emerge and work with the
team to manage them directly.
  • Manage external communications budget and deliver an external
communications program in line with the annual plan.
  • Develop and deliver a digital asset strategy as it relates to corporate
communications and brand messaging.
  • Work in partnership with Customer Experience Managers and Marketing Crop Managers to integrate big picture corporate thinking with crop-specific plans.
  • Manage the development and implementation of a communications
measurement program.

Qualifications
Formula for Success:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English, Political
Science, or related field.

Experience
  • 8+ years’ experience in a similar role
  • Experience in the Agriculture industry, an asset

Knowledge/Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and editorial experience
  • Strength in project management
  • Aptitude for strategic decision making and a strong capacity for critical thinking and
problem solving
  • Relationship management experience
  • Ability to lead and motivate peers, consultants, and leaders and work collaboratively within
a matrix organization.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
