Division Infrastructure Business Unit Major Projects East Location-East or West East City Toronto Province/State Ontario [ON] Country Canada [CA] Title Operations Engineer Position Overview The Operations Engineer will report to the Vehicle Operations Manager on this complex P3 rail project. Key Responsibilities
Writing the LRT Rules and Standard Operating Procedures for LRT Revenue Service in coordination and consultation with the Owner, Operator and Maintainer.
Writing / Modifying the LRT Rules and Standard Operating Procedures for the Testing and Commissioning activities prior to Revenue Service and updating them as necessary to reflect the changing state of the LRT System until Revenue Service.
Liaising with LRT System Owner, Operator and Maintainer as necessary to facilitate the finalization of the System Operating and Fault Recovery Plan on an as needed basis.
Proactively coordinating with the Design Consultants and Suppliers to identify Operations and Maintenance related potential scope gaps.
Proactively coordinating with the RAM team to evaluate, assign and incorporate into the SOPs, maintainability related procedures.
Proactively coordinating with the Safety and Security team to evaluate, assign and incorporate into the SOPs, hazards and threats to be procedurally mitigated.
Proactively interacting with and supporting to the O&SHA process.
Supporting the development of the System Minimum Operating Standard (SysMOS), Station Minimum Operating Standard (StnMOS) and Vehicle Minimum Operating Standard (VMOS) in consultation and coordination with the Owner, Operator, Maintainer, Design Consultants and Suppliers on an as needed basis.
Supporting and providing input into the Operations Training Program, which encompasses; Operator Controller Training, Operator Driver Training, and Project Co Driver Training, Emergency Services Training, Operator and Project Co Security Training.
Supporting the Operations and Maintenance Working Group meetings with administrative support and conducting any ad-hoc meetings.
Support the development of Operation and Maintenance Manuals
Support/Develop any other Operationally relevant supplementary documents.
Required Knowledge & Skills
Completion of a University Degree, or College Diploma in a related discipline combined with several years of experience working with transportation or transit operations, or a combination of education, training, and experience deemed to be equivalent.
Experience in development and or modification of railway documents - railway documents for urban environment is preferred.
Experience in rail operations - rail operations in urban environment is preferred.
Exposure to transit operator training development and supervision.
Exposure to Safety and Security certification of a Transit System is an asset
Highly developed organizational, interpersonal, presentation, oral communications, written communication and report writing skills.
Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Business judgement supported by strong analytical and problem solving-skills
Attention to detail and good written and verbal communication skills
