Water/Wastewater Engineer At AECOM

Location: Burnaby, British Columbia

Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Water/Wastewater Engineer for employment in the Burnaby, BC office. AECOM is searching for candidates that have the ability to be a role model, be client-focused, be impactful and be decisive.

The Water Division of AECOM is actively growing its municipal water engineering practice within BC. The successful candidate(s) will join our team as a supporting project engineer for the design of expansions or upgrades to pumping stations, water and wastewater treatment plants, as well as the design of new water and wastewater linear infrastructure.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

+ Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks. Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.

+ Exercise judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives

+ Prepare engineering related calculations and develop drawings and visual aids

+ Prepare design drawings, plans, sections, details, and profiles/sections within the Autodesk Civil 3D and AutoCAD MEP

+ Work under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member

+ Oversee and direct data collection and analysis activities

+ Undertake preliminary and detailed design activities

+ Responsible for the preparation of technical memoranda, preliminary and detailed design reports

+ Equipment selection and liaison with equipment suppliers and vendors

+ Oversee the production of contract drawings for water and wastewater related infrastructure

+ Preparation of technical specifications, special provisions and forms of tender

+ Review of quantity and cost estimates for completeness and accuracy

+ Provision of contract administration services during the construction of water and wastewater infrastructure and facilities

+ Work as part of a team to complete water and wastewater infrastructure assignments

+ Prepare technical reports and analysis to support project assignments

+ Actively engage in professional development and industry events

Minimum Requirements

+ Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, or Process Engineering or other related field required

+ 4+ years of related experience with water/wastewater pumping, treatment or conveyance

+ Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software

+ Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as HCS, AutoCAD MEP, Civil 3D, MicroStation, GIS, Hydrologic/Hydraulic models)

+ Class 5 driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

+ P. Eng

+ Familiarity with asset management principles and analytical methods

+ Experience with project management concepts and principles
