AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Senior Business Development Manager for immediate employment in the greater Chicago, IL metropolitan area.
_Please note that this position can be primarily remote based but will require regular (bi-weekly) visits to the Chicago AECOM office.
This is a business development and consultative sales role focused on energy retrofit and performance contracting project opportunities in the mid-West region of the US. This position will require developing relationships with new and existing AECOM clients, and providing needs-based solutions through a detailed and strategic consulting sales process.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
+ Leading business development strategies and activities for the Energy Savings Performance Contracting (ESPC) and Energy-As-A-Service market
+ Identifying and cultivating client relationships and leads that result in energy services and performance contracting opportunities
+ Be involved in identifying, developing, and proposing new energy projects
+ Negotiating partnerships and alliances
+ Structuring and closing transactions
+ Managing senior-level relationships internally and externally
+ Maintaining a sharp focus on the client during project implementation
This role requires knowledge of State ESPC programs along with various other public and private contracting mechanisms. Success in this position will require a dynamic, self-motivated individual with high energy and an acute passion for developing large, complex energy retrofit projects in the MUSH (Municipalities, Universities, Schools, and Hospitals) markets.
Level specific responsibilities:
- Plans, organizes and implements all business development activities for an assigned market(s), or geographic territory.
- May supervise and oversee business development staff and managers.
- Participates in decision-making.
- Works independently to pursue development of new business prospects.
- Assists in the development of proposals and gives presentations to potential clients.
- Has broad knowledge of the business to support cross-discipline, business line, and region collaboration.
- Generally has business development and/or technical experience, with hands-on cost proposal development.
+ BA/BS and 10 years of relevant experience in financial/performance contracting, including 2 years of previous leadership, sales, and marketing with an energy services or related organization, with responsibilities for identifying leads and closing sales or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
+ Very strong consultative sales skills, ability to operate in a technically complex market and long sales cycle.
+ Excellent written and oral communication skills
+ Superb project management abilities, both individually and as part of a team
+ Strong interpersonal, organizational, creative problem-solving, and leadership skills
+ Specific expertise of the financial, technical and political aspects driving the energy efficiency and renewable energy industries
+ Self-directed personality with a commitment to excellence
+ Previous experience working in high-performance organizations
+ This position does not include sponsorship for US work authorization.
+ 15+ years of financial/performance contracting experience, including previous leadership, sales, and marketing with an energy services or related organization, with responsibilities for identifying leads and closing sales
+ Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, Management or Business strongly preferred
+ Successful financial close of at least two ESPC projects as the responsible and accountable business development leader is strongly preferred
