AECOM's Environment Business Line is currently seeking an Intermediate Geotechnical Engineer to join our team in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The appropriately qualified candidate will join a multidisciplinary, collaborative multinational team focused on delivery of superior services to our clients. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
+ Provide technical expertise in support of on-going AECOM geotechnical projects.
+ Work with senior level staff to provide services for current and prospective clients, and actively participate in local and regional collaborative opportunities.
+ Actively participate in business development activities by identifying opportunities, supporting proposal efforts, and developing winning strategies.
+ Maintain positive working relationships with client contacts, suppliers, contractors, engineering consultants and external agencies.
+ Provide technical mentorship to junior members of the geotechnical team.
+ Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or related field.
+ 5+ years of geotechnical experience.
+ Registered as a Professional Engineer in Manitoba.
+ Undertake investigation, analysis and design for geotechnical components of highway, bridge, retaining wall, dikes, rail, utilities, building structures, and other infrastructure/municipal projects.
+ Strong experience using geotechnical modeling software including LPILE, GeoStudio package (Slope, Seep, Sigma), WEAP (Wave Equation Analysis Program), and gINT.
+ Experience with complex geotechnical investigations and writing complete geotechnical foundation design reports.
+ Planning and directing field activities for instrument installations including inclinometers, surface monitoring points, strain gauges, extensometer, monitoring wells, vibrating wire piezometers and data loggers.
+ Reviewing and interpreting monitoring information from geotechnical instrumentation programs.
+ Experience in analysis/design in accordance with various design codes (AASHTO, CHBDC, AREMA) and other geotechnical theories.
+ Participate in laboratory and field inspection quality assurance including pile driving.
+ Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
+ Strong technical, project management, and communication skills (both oral and written).
+ Ability to manage time effectively.
+ Willingness to travel, complete field work, and work extended hours, when necessary.
+ Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering.
+ 8+ years of geotechnical experience in local soil conditions.
+ Proven track record in developing and sustaining client relationships in the Manitoba market.
+ Modeling geotechnical problems using finite element software (PLAXIS 2D).
+ Trenchless design, modeling and construction supervision/inspection.
+ Strong experience in analysis and design of deep excavations, excavation support systems, soil improvement and reinforced earth slopes.
