AECOM's Calgary office is currently seeking a full time intermediate GIS Technologist to join our team of young and dynamic professionals within our Environment Business Line. In this role, responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to the following:
+ Some mentoring a junior GIS Technologists
+ Providing day-to-day support for the Environment business line in Western Canada (BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan,Manitoba and the northern territories), a team which provides services in remediation and reclamation, air quality and noise assessment, permitting and impact assessment, and geotechnical engineering and supporting environmental project work across the rest of Canada and the United States (Ontario, Quebec, the Maritimes, Newfoundland and Labrador, California and the Pacific Northwest)
+ Working directly with ecologists, environmental scientists and design engineers to compile, understand and display environmental data as it relates to proposed infrastructure, while identifying areas of impacts for regulatory permits and showing proposed mitigation.
+ Prepare figures in support of technical reports and permitting applications.
+ Create custom GIS tools to ensure an efficient workflow for a particular project.
+ Working on a wide variety of major infrastructure, mining, oil and gas, and renewable energy opportunities.
+ Interacting and supporting other business lines (Water, Transportation, etc.)
+ Creating digital field forms and maps for use on tablets and smart phones.
+ Assisting field staff with issues that may come up in the while using the data collection devices.
+ High School Diploma and 4 years of relevant experience or Associates degree (US) and 2 years of relevant experience or Diploma/Certificate (Canada) and 2 years of relevant experience
+ Proficient with the ArcGIS Desktop suite of products, Spatial Analyst and 3D Analyst, ModelBuilder or Python, Collector for ArcGIS, Survey123 for ArcGIS, ArcGIS Online and a basic knowledge of AutoCAD (ability to create and modify site plans).
+ Ability to work on numerous projects at the same time and to quickly shift priorities from one project to another.
+ Capability to work under pressure as it is common that information requests and deliverables need to be completed the same day with short notice.
+ The ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing to assist in pursuing new GIS opportunities.
+ Additional experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and ArcGIS Pro would be considered an asset.
+ Experience in consulting, writing proposals and perusing new opportunities would also be a benefit.
