Entry-level Structural Engineer At AECOM

Location: Whitby, Ontario

Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Entry-level Structural engineer for employment in the Whitby, Ontario office.

AECOM is pleased to include you in a unique development opportunity, the Graduate Development Program (GDP). This program is designed to support your assimilation into the organization and assist with creating a foundation of knowledge for a successful career at AECOM. Under the responsible charge of a Professional Engineer, the responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

+ Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out structural engineering tasks. Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.

+ Exercise judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives

+ Prepare engineering related calculations and develop drawings and visual aids

+ Carry out structural analysis of Transportation structures such as bridges, culverts, retaining walls

+ Inspection and evaluation of structures

+ Report preparation

Minimum Requirements

+ Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in structural engineering

+ Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software

+ Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks. Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.

+ Exercise judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives

+ Prepare engineering related calculations and develop drawings and visual aids

+ Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (structural analysis and design software such as MIDAS, SFrame etc.

+ Knowledge of reinforced concrete, pre-stressed concrete and structural steel design

Preferred Qualifications

+ Master's degree in Structural Engineer
