Entry Level Environmental Engineer At AECOM

Location: Whitby, Ontario

Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Entry Level Environmental Engineer for employment in the Markham, ON office. AECOM is pleased to include you in a unique development opportunity, the Graduate Development Program (GDP). This program is designed to support your assimilation into the organization and assist with creating a foundation of knowledge for a successful career at AECOM. AECOM has an environmental team of 40+ staff in Ontario, which carries out environmental site assessment and remediation work both within and outside the province.

The entry level engineer would be part of the Groundwater Field Team and will conduct groundwater monitoring and field investigations under the supervision of a team lead. The entry level engineer may also participate in hydrogeological investigations required to assess environmental groundwater conditions and to support remedial system design.

Minimum Requirements

+ BA/BS + None or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

+ Bachelors of Science, Bachelors of Applied Science or Bachelors of Engineering Degree in Environmental, Chemical, or Civil Engineering required (or related engineering degree). Environmental science graduates will also be considered.

+ 0 to 1 years of consulting experience.

+ General knowledge of basic engineering principles.

+ Proficiency in standard office suite software applications.

+ Position requires a tolerance for working in outdoor environments in a range of weather conditions.

+ Must be able to bend, stoop and lift objects up to 50 pounds and safely drive a full-size pickup truck.

+ Ability to travel, including extended travel, when necessary.

+ Must have a valid driver's license in Ontario

Preferred Qualifications

+ OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER and OSHA 10-hour or 30-hour safety training courses.

+ Database, GIS, CAD, visualization software skills are desirable.

+ Passing applicable Professional Practice Exam (e.g. Professional Engineers and/or Geoscientists) is recommended.

+ Ability to interact effectively with internal and external clients.

+ Knowledge/experience with both environmental and hydrogeological projects and/or courses.

+ Strong oral and written communication skills.

+ Critical thinker; thrives on solving problems and working in a team environment; Ability to problem-solve in a fast-paced environment and offer solutions when issues arise

+ Ability to write and to convey complex thoughts and ideas in a clear, concise manner and learn through on-the-job experience.
