AECOM is seeking a Database Developer to join our team at our Calgary, Alberta location. This is a full time position based in Calgary with 50% travel required for the role.
The Database Developer is responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of databases that support packaged / commercial software as well as custom developed applications. Also includes the development and design of database strategies, monitoring and improving database performance and capacity, and planning for future expansion requirements.
+ Maintenance of Existing Multi-User Access / SQL Server Database Application
+ Design and oversite of Django / Python Web Application build to replace and add functionality from current Access system
+ Ability to meet with users and put together user stories / use cases / risk profiles / database design / basic UML diagrams, etc.
+ Train and mentor new developers / help to gain experience and speed
+ Must be able to work in constantly changing environment with multiple stakeholders
+ Work with stakeholders and push planning / training / proper development practices
+ Capable of building a project roadmap without all information
+ Able to put governance around all and other system rollouts potentially including Adobe Sign and SharePoint
+ Able to estimate other potential system functionality and interfaces / Company plans
+ May be required to travel and work on site
+ Must know SQL Server and T-SQL - Familiar with Views and Stored Procedures
+ Understanding of normalization and basic database principles
+ Must be able to code with VBA and understand Access Classes
+ Thorough understanding of development design patterns and best practices
