Analyst/Sr Analyst, Social Media Insights At A+E Networks

Location: New York, New York

Job Description

Analyst/Sr Analyst, Social Media Insights

A+E Networks, a global entertainment media company with six original brands (A&E®, HISTORY®, Lifetime®, LMN®, FYITM and VICELANDSM), is looking for an Analyst or Sr Analyst, Social Media Insights to provide insight into A+E Networks’ social media presence (126+ million fans and followers) and audience profile, as well as social industry trends.

The Analyst/Sr Analyst, Social Media Insights will play a vital role in the organization, partnering hand-in-hand with A+E Networks’ marketers, programmers, and social media producers to guide strategy, provide feedback on performance, and enhance the company’s presence across social platforms. The role provides a unique opportunity to work across brands and across social networks, including YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, and others.

The Analyst/Sr Analyst should have knowledge of the social data ecosystem, including native reporting platforms, 3rd party tools and aggregators, and social listening platforms. This role will work to better utilize and organize A+E Networks’ social data, provide insights and analyses, and create best practices for data alignment & optimization across social content as well as social media plans. The role will also monitor industry trends, and bring innovative perspectives to support the division’s thought-leadership initiatives.

MORE ABOUT WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Produce data-driven insights to inform A+E Networks’ programming/marketing strategies and decision-making to maximize social content reach and its performance
  • Manage regular social media reports to better understand social platforms and corresponding audience reactions and behaviors
  • Leverage suite of social tools and other syndicated resources (e.g. MRI) to analyze consumer reactions to programming
  • Help identify tune-in motivators and then track viewer behavior across a breadth of platforms
  • Maintain goals and benchmarks for social content performance
  • Support the completion of ad-hoc requests related to social media
  • Assist in managing vendor relationships by ensuring all profiles, keywords, and roll-ups are up-to-date in all tools
  • Provide support in building out A+E’s social insights and reporting capabilities

WHAT YOU’LL LEARN:

As the media industry grapples with fragmentation and disruption, a key facet of Research is to be the driving force in helping their company capture, report on, monetize, and understand audiences. An opportunity lies in Research to work across divisions and departments to create a unified language that ensures that internal clients understand—and take advantage of—complex metrics. The key is giving the necessary context so that decisions can be made. While this sounds disarmingly simple, it is a challenge to get the majority of the company to speak the same language and understand new vernacular. Research is a central force within the broader organization in gaining an objective perspective for a wide array of complex questions. It may sound academic – and certainly there is a portion of the job that requires a love of learning – but the primary attribute that will bring you success is curiosity. For example, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of what motivates someone to tune into a show, buy a product based on placement of an ad, become a fan on social media, or why certain types of programs are successful across regions of this country and abroad. Ultimately, each research candidate gets a better understanding of the rigor that goes into making business decisions by uncovering not boulders, but pebbles along the path to connecting to A+E Networks core asset, its content.

YOUR STORY: [+BEHAVIORS] (what you need to have)

  • Minimum 2 years work experience in social media
  • Must be passionate about a quickly-evolving digital and social media environment
  • Strong knowledge of social media platforms, including the nuances of video and creative performances
  • Must be comfortable working with large amounts of data in a data-intensive environment
  • Experience in creating social media monitoring reports including content performance, sentiment analysis, and volume trends, to deliver social media insights that can help positively change content and engagement strategies
  • Experience with social measurement platforms including but not limited to Nielsen Social Guide, Canvs, ListenFirst, Sprinklr, Facebook Insights, Twitter Analytics, YouTube Analytics, Netbase
  • Experience compiling, analyzing, and interpreting information from various research sources (i.e. syndicated, primary, social listening, etc.)
  • Analytical mindset with advanced-level skills with MS Excel
  • Experience with primary research a plus
  • Ability to convey ideas and solutions both verbally and visually
  • Self-starter and ability to work independently and as a team player
  • Great communication, presentation, and time-management skills
  • B.A. in a quantitative discipline such as Mathematics, Statistics or Economics
THAT SOMETHING EXTRA: If you’ve read this far, you’re likely a great fit for us…and maybe you’re fluent in sign language, have studied the circus arts or are currently writing a screenplay. If you have a special skill or backstory that might directly or indirectly help you succeed in this role, we’d love to hear about it in your cover letter
