The Director of Marketing is responsible for the Canadian marketing team, management of the portfolio of brands across multiple channels to achieve the short- and long-term financial objectives of the division, as stated in the budget.
The role provides strategic leadership and guidance across both short- and long-term for the success of product brands, communicates the strategic vision across the entire organization, and leverages the necessary resources to achieve the brand and financial objectives. This includes helping transform the organization as ADC expands its product offerings into new categories.
The role also has a particular emphasis in ongoing development of the marketing team and the structural evolution of the function in anticipation of future opportunities. This includes maximizing partnership activities to support existing brands and possible future revenue streams
The role is responsible for implementing the global and country brand strategies (for the entire BGM product portfolio) in Canada, and drives the commercial operations from a marketing perspective including: Retail and trade, HCP Sales, and Direct to Consumer. This should be done by utilizing a variety of strategic marketing tactics.
Additionally, this position must effectively manage the ongoing relationship with partners and contribute the Canadian marketing perspective as it relates to global partnerships.
MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF POSITION:
Leads the Canadian business from a marketing perspective as a member of the Canadian Commercial Team. This includes setting goals and objectives for the country and translating them for the Marketing department that ladder up to the larger country and region objectives; and fostering collaboration with internal colleagues to ensure that business goals are achieved.
Drives the Strategic Business Planning process for Canada - while integrating in the implementation and growth plans for the product portfolio, as laid out by the Americas Brand Marketing team; and contribute to the long-term strategy development; representing Canada with key global groups.
Leads channel/partnership management and overall development of annual strategic plans.
Ensures business and brand strategies result in realistic financial and implementation plans, that the department is monitoring and tracking to budget, and provides input and leadership to course-correct if necessary.
Directs and leads brand strategies and channel management to ensure the right marketing mix is appropriately funded to deliver on short- and long-term business objectives, managing A&P and T&E cost centers.
Coordinates marketing staff, marketing services, medical, regulatory, controlling, sales, and services groups.
Leads relationships with external agency partners; ensure that external partners; e.g. Agencies (Advertising, PR, Medical, Digital, etc.) and consultants are being managed and led appropriately to produce consumer and professional communication (copy, media, etc.) activations and executions in line with the category and overall brand strategy.
Guides development of people and department through creation of individual development program for all marketing staff, providing coaching, counsel, and direction for individual contributors and managers among direct reports, and optimizing structure and workload of department.
Responsible for organizational and personnel development of the staff within the limits of the personnel budget. This responsibility includes the recruiting, training, and development of the human resources under his/her control.
Constructively challenges status quo thinking and assumptions, while providing fresh perspectives and innovative ideas to achieve category objectives and organizational goals. Applies broad knowledge and seasoned experience when addressing complex issues, taking into account all critical information when making decisions regarding alignment of the brand portfolio with Americas Brand Team.
Oversees and is responsible for managing strategic partnerships and demonstrating creativity and business insight in order to identify opportunities that can be executed to drive business results.
MBA or equivalent required
8+ years of brand marketing/product/brand management experience required; a minimum of 5 years experience in the Healthcare field preferably diabetes
Candidate must have sound experience in classical brand management principals, particularly marketing planning/evaluation, new product launch experience, finance, the role of field selling and advertising/sales promotional activities.
Proven experience in delivering results through implementation and strong execution of marketing strategies, leading people, focusing on customer needs, and utilizing strong judgment and decision-making.
Flexibility; demonstrated ability to adapt to changing market and organizational needs with good logic and judgment.
Strong strategic thinking and creativity in developing marketing plans and strategies that enhance market share and profitability.
Proven performer in effectively managing numerous and changing demands with limited time.
Ability to recognize marketing problems and opportunities; initiate plans to correct or improve the situation and make any corrections necessary to implement the plan.
Nimble, agile thinker, comfortable in working in undefined spaces without proven processes.
Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to collaborate for success
High degree of verbal and written competence along with good presentation skills (oral and written communication), organization skills, project management and proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint.
Consumer brand, consumer healthcare or pharmaceutical brand marketing
Experience with marketing to healthcare providers or experience in sales
Knowledge of the Diabetes Care market an asset
Experience working with advertising agencies
