General Job Description
The Manager of Finance manages the financial resources of our Company. This role is responsible for accurate budget planning, data entry and providing effective insights and financial advice that allow the executive management team to make the best financial business decisions.
This is a full-time permanent role based at 365 Sports Inc Meaford Headquarters and would require the incumbent to work approximately 40 hours per week:
Monday to Friday in a typical office environment: 9:00 am - 5:00 pm*
*due to our event-based environment, the schedule may vary due to business needs
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage accounting staff
- Monitor all financial activity on a daily basis and ensure it is accurately inputted in Company Accounting Software (Quickbooks Online) in a timely manner
- Oversee Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
- Reconcile balance sheet to ensure account balances are supported by appropriate documentation
- Ensure the P&L is accurate and categorized by various classes
- Ensure company complies with all legal and regulatory reporting requirements; Corporate FYE, GST/HST/QST tax remittances
- Ensure strong accounting environment to safeguard assets, improve operations and profitability
Budgeting, Analyzing AND Reporting
- Generate and provide annual company budget and forecasts to CEO and COO
- Generate and provide accurate weekly/monthly financial reports (Balance Sheet, P&L, AP/AR) to CEO and COO
- Analyze financial data and market trends
- Work with each department head to create and manage various event specific budgets
- Analyze information, projected sales/expenses against actual sales/expenses and create budget plans accordingly
- Produce accurate forecasts which enable each department to react to changes in the business and improve profit growth in their department
- Provide analytical support during budget reviews to identify cost saving and productivity opportunities
Minor Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage payroll and associated duties
- Source deduction remittance, Employee Health Benefits, Vacation Pay, Staff Attendance and Workers Compensation for multiple provinces
- Prepare and process semi-monthly Staff Payroll, Subcontractors Payroll, ROEs, and annual T4's
- Maintain and update employee records
Qualifications for the Job
- Post Secondary Education relating to Finance/Accounting or Bachelor's Degree in Accounting (Master's degree preferred)
- Preferred and/or working towards Certified General Accountant (CGA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA)
Experiences
- 2+ years' minimum experience working in Finance
- Prior experience in a finance management role with effective leadership ability
- Experience handling sensitive information with demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality
- Strong understanding of tax codes and laws
- Proficiency with accounting software required: Quickbooks Online knowledge is mandatory
- Experience in bookkeeping and understanding of Accounting Practices
- Experience with Google Drive/Docs, MS Office: Excel knowledge is mandatory
- Proficiency in Mac and PC
