The Senior Electrical Investigator (Senior Associate) will report to the Practice Lead and collaborate with other subject matter experts to consult with clients; perform examinations, testing, and analysis; and prepare engineering reports and findings in a clear, concise and professional manner.
Role responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
Provide technical leadership with investigations related to electrical equipment loss and/or failures.
Working closely with other Associates to perform site electrical testing and assessment to determine the operation of electrical systems and equipment.
Electrical investigations related to transformers, switchgear, motors, generators, cables, electrical distribution systems, etc.
Mentoring, coaching and/or direct supervision of Associates on investigation assignments.
Manage projects according to client-approved scopes of work, and delivery of high-quality technical reports on time and within budget.
Knowledge of electrical codes and international standards relating to maintenance and operation of electrical systems and equipment.
Participate with other -30- staff in business development, as well as the promotion of advancing market growth opportunities; attendance of industry seminars and events.
Become technically independent (i.e. final sign-off) on all aspects of technical investigations.
Review plans and specifications to determine whether they meet relevant guidelines, codes, and other regulations.
Work towards providing expert testimony in court.
Perform additional duties as required.
A bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and a minimum of 5 years' experience (post-degree) working in a consulting or construction environment.
Previous experience with testing electrical equipment or investigating electrical equipment failures are considered strong assets.
Previous experience with system design, and maintenance of 600 volts (and lower) electrical infrastructure in commercial/industrial setting
Knowledge of Bus Ducts, Switchgear, Transformers, Motor 's, Cables, and Electrical Distribution Systems
Currently registered or eligible for registration with the PEO
A strong understanding of regulator codes including CSA, OESC and knowledge of the role of the ESA
Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle
Excellent technical writing skills are a must
Ability to communicate effectively with clients
