I am an Independent Contractor for Fedex Ground Systems Inc. I currently have an opening for a full time driver. The demand for online shopping and delivery are very high and going up. Currently at a 30%-35% increase over last year. The terminal is located near Mapleview and the 400. The hours are 630am until finished (between 4pm-5pm) depending on volume and your efficiency from Monday to Friday. Occassional Saturdays though Christmas season. All equipment, fuel, uniforms and training provided. Vac pay and stat holiday are included in your weekly cheque. Bonus program available after probation period based on service and productivity. Taxes are remitted to CRA on your behalf with a T4 issued to you in Feb. No benefits. No split days. A knowledge of south central Ontario would be a definite asset.
If you have the experience driving a cube van, school bus or larger for a minimum of one year within the last three years or five years within the last ten years commercially, that would be a definite asset.If you have a clear drivers abstract, a clear criminal search,can route yourself through an area efficiently after one week of training doing approximately 75-85 stops per day on average (some days more, some days less), are in decent physical condition, like working Monday-Friday with no split days, can start work at 630 am, possess a positive attitude, operate a small hand held scanner, have good customer service skills and are a team player. To qualify you need...
Be at least 21 yrs old
A valid G license with a clean abstract
A clear criminal search
Pass a four hour online defensive driver training module
An on road drivers test and behind the wheel observation from a qualified trainer for 18 hours in four days

Responsibilities and Duties
Timely delivery and pick up of parcels, envelopes and larger boxes to required destinations within the daily outlined route.
Safe, courteous driving practices
Use of handheld scanner
Coordinate with other terminal personnel and drivers
Fueling, occasional oil changes and picking up from repairs
