“"I think that it depends on which location is your home location for banks, but my experience hasn't been good at all with them. They really just want to do anything to make sure they can keep getting money from you, and their willing to do anything to boost their bottom line.
When I realized that they were giving me overdraft fees just based on how the payments were being authorized, I decided to close my account. I tried to close my account by phone 3 times but every time I was either just put on hold or nothing was done.
When I finally went into the branch, I talked to a teller to get them to close account and they told me they'd have it all handled. The lady told me she would close my account and cancel my debit. 3 weeks later I get an e-mail saying that my account was still open and that I owed them money! I had to hunt down customer service again and get my issues resolved even though I tried to get them fixed weeks ago. Would definitely not recommend this bank!"
"My experience with FCB - First Convenience Bank has been pretty posistive. The people working there are genuine and nice, and are really efficient once you get to their teller."”
“It's a pretty straight forward process, usually takes about 2 to 3 weeks. First you apply to the branch you're interested in, you get your first interview which is often in person. If you pass the first interview you'll get a call in a week to come in for a second interview and orientation. If you path both interviews they'll do a background check on you and a drug test, and if you pass you're on the team!”
“Best way to succeed at FCB is by making sure you constantly hit your daily goals and monthly quotas. The company is pretty sales focussed, and so they'll really recognize if you're able to help them with their bottom line. If you want to accelerate your process of growth being nice to the manager doesn't hurt.”
“Most stressful part of the job is definitely just being in such a fast paced environment during the day. Sometimes you're working really long shifts and people just keep coming in. They look around at you frustrated and impatient, and you have to somehow balance still being nice while moving as quickly as possible.”
“"The work culture really differs branch to branch as it depends a lot on the managers and the people working there. Some are also super busy and can be a hard place to work, where others are more relaxed. The core thing about working at FCB though is that it's a sales job, and so the general company culture is driven towards selling.
The people you work with are what will make the job great. My managers and co-workers were all very nice and hard working. We were all understanding of peoples lives and schedules, and able to fill in when it was needed. In times where the branch was super busy, we would work together to make sure everyone was served quickly and efficiently, and managers would help mae the process smooth.
The tough part about the culture though is that it can be stressful when you're hitting the end of the month and you haven't hit your sales quota. Sometimes you count on the bonus money coming in because you think you'll always be able to hit the quota, but every month is different and sometimes it can be harder to hit.
With it being such a sales focussed company, the mood can swing depending on if deals are being closed or if no one seems to want to buy. In general though the people you work with will keep the culture positive."”
The minimum requirements for FCB aren't too difficult to accomplish. To be a personal banker (which is the majority of the positions) you should have about 6 months of working with cash or in customer service. You have to be a team player and get along in team environments. You have to be flexible to work any day of the week (including holidays and nights). And you have to be at least 18 years old, and be in or have graduated highschool.
The starting salary for First Convenience Bank is usually just minimum wage. You'll be able to grow your salary to about $15 if you're dedicated and get the raises. The starting benefits are not great, the medical and vision options are good but can be really expensive, and the dental plan is just really bad.
Two things that really need to be changed to build a better work environment for everyone. Management needs to be trained better and have higher standards of promoting. Working for someone who has no idea what's going on can be really frustrating. They also need to pay us more than just above minimum wage. The work we do can be pretty hard, and it feels like we deserve more.
“"I really wish I knew how sales focussed the company is! There are a few great things about that but in general I thought I would be working more like a financial guru helping people with their work. A lot of our job is instead just making sure we can get the people to open more accounts of if we can help them out with any part of their financial position by offering different services.
There have been some great opportunities for me to learn how to upsell and cross-sell to different products, which I feel is a great skill to learn at any company. It also gave me the opportunity to be more extroverted when I've always been someone who's kept more to myself.
Although I wish I knew how sales focussed FCB was before I started working here, I'm really happy that it turned out this way. It can be stressful at times but I really lie the bonus and incentive structure, that feeling you get when you get a good sale, and learning how to be more open and talkative to absolutely anyone!"
"I wish I knew that they drug tested you randomly on the job. No one thought to tell me and now I'm out of a job only months after just starting. Make sure you're ready for the piss test!"”
First Convenience Bank is a bank that has checking, savings, and credit services. The majority of their business comes through real-estate lending, with another large portion for commercial loans. FCB is affiliated with 4 other banks, the First National Bank Texas, Fort Hood National bank, First Community Mortgage, and First Community Services.
Founded in 1901 in Central Texas, First Convenience Bank's parent company, the First National Bank of Texas, was one of the first banks to establish itself in the town of Killeen, only 19 years after the city was established. With more than 300 locations across Texas, Arizona, and New Mexico, FNBT has grown to more than 1,000 employees and large amounts of revenue.
Positive reviews from employees of FCB report enjoying the bonus structure, the quick opportunities for promotion, the co-worker environment, and the opportunity to learn more about the finance industry. Negative reviews from employees report being frustrated with the long shifts, the lack of holidays, the sales focus of the company, the large workload, and the low hourly wage.
With FCB being part of many other affiliate organizations, and covering many locations, there are many jobs at FCB and FNB Texas. Through FCB's website there are over 150 job openings, and through glassdoor there are about 140.
The majority of careers at First Convenience Bank are for assistant branch manager and personal banker positions.

The First National Bank Texas (FNBT) was founded in 1901, in central Texas. A town of Killeen, which was only established 19 year earlier, was the first town to be served by FNBT. As the community continued to grow and become prosperous, FNBT grew with the community, finding new ways to making baning better.
The first in-store location was opened in 1994, and FNBT built the division the First Convenience Bank. After the first location was opened, First Convenience Ban realized they could better serve the community with convenient locations, and has expanded rapidly since. Opening inside 26 Walmart Supercenters in 1999, and then expanding to over 300 locations across Texas, Arizona, and New Mexico, the First Convenience bank is the industry leading bank in many of the areas it serves.
